Five comedic vignettes occur simultaneously in taxis across five cities. In Los Angeles, a casting agent meets a tomboy driver; in New York, an immigrant driver struggles with directions; in Paris, a blind woman challenges her chauffeur; in Rome, a driver’s confessions overwhelm a priest; and in Helsinki, workers share tragic tales. Taking his episodic format global, Jarmusch relies purely on dialogue within confined spaces to reveal profound human truths.
